Young Lawyers Committee

OUR MISSION.

Launched in 2016, the YLC works in conjunction with the Northern Virginia Chapter's Board of Directors to provide newer lawyers with an opportunity to network and to enhance their professional development. The YLC organizes and promotes activities, including CLE seminars, networking opportunities, and social events, which are tailored to newer lawyers, and encourages pro bono and community service involvement.

OUR EVENTS.

The YLC's most popular event is the annual FBA v. EDVA Courthouse Kickball Tournament and Barbecue, now in its fourth year. The kickball tournament brings together local bar members and the bench and staff of the U.S. District Court for the EDVA, Alexandria Division.

We also organize CLE courses that introduce newer lawyers to federal practice, outings to local sports events, holiday parties, law school outreach events, and networking opportunities. Check back on our Events page or get involved to help plan our next event!

Under the guidance of Honorable Coaches Nachmanoff and O’Grady, a ragtag band of (physically underqualified) law clerks, (physically overqualified) deputy U.S. Marshals, and the rest of the EDVA courthouse family wrested the trophy back from the overconfident FBA team, futilely helmed by Honorable Coaches Hilton and Anderson.
