First FBA-NOVA Trivia Night Brings the Competition
On April 16, 2018, FBA-NOVA hosted an inaugural trivia night at The Light Horse in Old Town Alexandria. A great showing of judges, law clerks, and lawyers came out to display their knowledge beyond the courtroom. Teams chose names filled with hope for impending victory (we're looking at you, "Alexa Asks Us" and "The Honorable John F. Rightanswerson"), but only one was ultimately able to seize the title (until next time).
In Round One, the competitors tested their knowledge in Culture and Entertainment, fielding questions ranging from Taylor Swift's first Billboard Hot 100 #1 song ("We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together") to John Glenn's age upon returning from space in 1998 (77). Round Two brought a diverse array of questions about Sports, Food, Geography, and Virginia. In Round Three, competitors were able to use their EDVA expertise to answer questions about the beloved Rocket Docket, such as identifying Rule 95. (Not familiar with Rule 95? Time to review the local rules! Then phone a friend and ask, because it's not in the Local Rules.) In the final round, Team "Old & Wise (Mostly), aka Double Jeopardy" successfully fielded questions about Literature, Science, and Geography to secure a sweet victory. "Show Us Your Torts" received the prize for Best Team Name.
Thank you to all our competitors for showing up, competing with great zeal, and supporting the FBA-NOVA chapter. We'll see you next time!
Sad you weren't able to make the inaugural event? Not a problem — mark your calendars for the next trivia night on Monday, July 16th, when we will test the outgoing clerks' knowledge and send them off in style!
