Eighth Annual Kickball Game: Brought to You By...
On a sunny fall afternoon at Jennie Dean Park, Judge Brinkema’s ceremonial first pitch set the tone for another kickball classic between Team FBA and Team Courthouse. Master of Ceremony Chip Molster welcomed the crowd, and the Honorable Referee Alston took his post behind the plate to call a crisp, no-nonsense game. The Honorable Coaches Giles and Porter helmed Team FBA-NOVA, while the Courthouse squad rallied under the Honorable Coaches Vaala and Nachmanoff.
Both teams struck early—each plating a run in the first inning. Then came four taut frames of defensive brilliance, with the ball rarely escaping the infield and both sides flashing sure hands and sharper instincts. In the bottom of the fifth, Team FBA finally broke through: they loaded the bases, then turned aggressive baserunning into three runs and a commanding lead. The defense held from there, and the final tally read 4–1 in favor of Team FBA.
With their third straight victory now official, Team FBA shook hands with the Courthouse team in a show of good sportsmanship. Honorable Coach Giles triumphantly raised the coveted trophy as both teams gathered for photos—smiles all around, even from the runners-up. After the trophy ceremony, everyone retired to strategize for next year’s rematch over a delicious Rocklands BBQ lunch, where theories about bunting, base-running, and secret sauce abounded.
